There must be a variation between camera’s. Mine has a lateral translation movement although I would not have noticed without this thread and a minimal rotational movement which is irrelevant, but pitch and yaw, no.

Hello all.

I experienced the same amount of play on my TL + 23/2. Also used to the solidness of the M mount and found I could not enjoy shooting with this wobbly/untight feeling. Measured the locking pin and the corresponding recess, both 2,5 mm. I found the play to be due to excess play between the camera-lens mount. Customizing the mount mechanically myself was out of the question, but using some strips (2,5 mm) of transparent packaging tape applied securely to the outside circumference of the lens mount fixed the problem. Still a very small amount of play, but in a totally different league.

Hello vsel,

very interested in your fix... but I don’t quite understand what you did/ how it works.

Can you share a photo of the fix itself?

Much appreciated!

On my CL the 23 has a couple of millimeters of radial play, nothing I noticed until this thread and I tried it. No shakiness. My 55 7 Artisans is tighter no radial play, the Leica M to L has the couple of mm play, maybe a little looser than the 23, this may be the width of the locking pin.
