It works nicely. Leica CL with Summicron-R 90 mm, M to R and L to M adaptors stacked.

I use it as well. It has the advantage of triggering the use of the righthand wheel for the magnifying focus aid, which a passive LET-LER adapter will not do. The Leica L-R adapter will  do so and will also transmit the R ROM data, but it is prohhibitively expensive.

I use both the venerable Leicina adapter (modified to take all typs of R lenses) and the Novoflex LEM-LER. Both work just fine with all R lenses.

As a side note, this is due to the APS-C crop of the CL. The Leicina adapter will vignette on full frame with some longer R lenses.

 

Using a two-adapter solution has another important advantage: it positions the M in the heart of Leica's camera systems.

 

It will take TL and SL lenses natively.

It will take M mount lenses seamlessly by the TL-M adapter.

It will, by adding the LEM-LER adapter, take all R-mount lenses.

It will take, as a bonus, by other M-whatever adapters, thousands of manual lenses of all brands.

It put an end to the cumbersome EVF solutions of M and T.

It shares a battery and charger with the Q.

Doesn't work, only on the SL. 

 

Please also note that the S-adapter-L works on the SL but you cannot stack it with other S-adapters, eg. you cannot shoot Contax 645 lenses on the SL. 

 

Also, the SL does not support the central shutter function of Leica S CS version lenses.
