jeffz Posted February 10, 2018 Share #1 Posted February 10, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am looking to have my Zeiss 28mm ZM lens six bit coded. What firms are doing 6 bit coding in the US? Thanks
Advertisement Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 Hi jeffz, Take a look here Zeiss ZM Lens - 6 Bit Coding . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Narsuitus Posted February 10, 2018 Share #2 Posted February 10, 2018 When I enquired about having my Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 ZM 6-bit coded, Dan Tamarkin at Tamarkin Leica, 300 West Superior Street, Suite 202, Chicago, Illinois, 60654 (Tamarkin.com ) (312-642-2255) told me that they could do it. james.liam Posted February 10, 2018 Share #3 Posted February 10, 2018 Also try DAG. He provides this service for Leica lenses and if technically feasible, is likely to offer the same for Zeiss.

Kennethjk Posted January 10, 2019 Share #5 Posted January 10, 2019 Curious if you ever contacted DAG about coding a non Leica lens.
250swb Posted January 10, 2019 Share #6 Posted January 10, 2019 I'm sure DAG could code a non Leica lens, but it depends where the flange mounting screws are and if they coincide with the coding sensor on the body, this you could check for yourself. If they do coincide it can't be coded. All bar very early Zeiss ZM lenses for example avoid mounting screws in the sensor section of the flange (and also have a rebate machined in specifically for self coding the lens). Which Leica lens did you choose to code the Distagon?

rramesh Posted April 18, 2019 Share #9 Posted April 18, 2019 (edited) This might work. https://www.ebay.com/itm/143124697043?ul_noapp=true Edited April 18, 2019 by rramesh

I replaced the flange on my 90mm Elmarit and 50mm Sonnar and both work as expected, no misalignment etc. However, if your lens is not listed, I recommend to contact the seller and ask before committing to purchase. They replied to me within 24/48h (can't remember now...)
gbealnz Posted April 18, 2019 Share #11 Posted April 18, 2019 I agree, "RJ" is the guy, and a pleasure to deal with. I've used his M lens adapters, simple/easy to fit, works like a charm. Gary

Malabito Posted April 29, 2019 Share #13 Posted April 29, 2019 Why will someone go through all the hassle of using one of these adapters if you are shooting raw?

Because it matters for RAW as well. When I coded my 4/18mm with a Dremel long back (now sold), it was the slickest way to get rid of the Italian flag problem on the M8. If you consider taking five minutes of your time to fit the replacement flange a 'hassle' then I'd like to know what you'd normally do in those five minutes because it must be fantastic and I want some.

Yes, the 25mm ZM Biogon is one of those having interfering screws.
