Hi there. Just in process of buying an M9P. Its been to Germany for sensor replacement and then back  with a complaint of a stiff shutter release. Its come back with all the document stating the service details done but the shutter release is still stiff. The first pressure is ok and the the final release point is still stiff. Is this just a general feature of this model. I'm comparing it to my Monochrom Mk1 which is certainly easier to release. Just checking with other users experience of the M9P.

Regards Robin.

Curious...

My M8.2 has a slightly - but noticeably - smoother '2nd stage of release' than that of my M9-P.

Consequently I make a conscious effort to hold the 9 even steadier and to squeeze the release even smoother than is necessary with the 8.

Probably doesn't add anything concrete to the thread but it's something I've been aware of since day 1 of my M9-P ownership...

For me it's noticeable to the point that I really need to make extra effort to avoid camera movement when using my m9-P compared to my MP (240) - but somehow I really prefer the m9, just love the sound!

I'm curious: are we talking about the M9P having a stiffer shutter release by design?

I've not noticed too much of a difference between my M9 and M8 in this particular aspect. It seems quite curious that Leica would have chosen to stiffen up the M9P's shutter release button.

And I suppose a way to get around this is perhaps to set the shutter release mode to soft?

Hi there. I have sent the M9P back to the dealer and he's sent it off to Leica. I am assuming that it has a fault as it's a really stiff to set the shutter off. You can feel the different "points" as you push it down, then the actual final point takes a real pressure to set off the shutter almost to the cause of a shake. Comparing it to my Monochrom its really awkward. Lets hope that Leica gets it fixed right this time. Regards Robin.
