I was sitting at my desk this afternoon, when I noticed through the window a bird I had never seen before, resting on a branch of a dead tree, about 15 meters away. Time to take my always-at-hand Leica V-Lux 20, aim, zoom at 49.2/4.1 and take the picture, and the guy had taken off. I must confess that I was surprised by the result of the framed image below. Do not forget : through the window, 15 meters away and within two seconds or so. Even a very small Leica with a Vario-Elmar can surprise.

Pierre -

I tried to send you a PM about this photo but your mailbox must be full.

Hi, Stun. My mailbox "Clix" was full, indeed (bloody ads!), but you can try c.p.jeandrain@sapo.pt.

I take this opportunity to precise to your wife that her name is familiar to me : not only because we live in Santa Barbara de Nexe, but especially because the last of our four grandchildren is called Barbara - and lives with us.

It's a Jay. Quite common round here (UK). Not to be confused with Blue jays or other non Eurasian 'jays'.

Thank you, "wattsy". It is a nice bird, quite big (like a pigeon?), and I hope to have other and better opportunities to "portray" it.
