scott kirkpatrick Posted January 2, 2018 Share #1  Posted January 2, 2018 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) This sounds like a good idea, especially when using the CL to make video "snapshots," but I can't get it to work on my CL. The line "video stabilization" in the submenu video settings says "on" but is greyed out. On my SL, I have seen video stabilization indicated both "off" and "on," (and I know how to make it go back to "on") but on my CL, both OIS and video stabilization are currently "on" but greyed out. Since you can't go into the menu while video is being shot, I have no way to tell if it is working while the video is running but greyed out for just framing.  Is anyone using this feature?  scott Edited January 2, 2018 by scott kirkpatrick
Advertisement Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Hi scott kirkpatrick, Take a look here Video Stabilization. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted January 2, 2018 Share #2 Â Posted January 2, 2018 It will only work with stabilized lenses. There is no IBIS.
scott kirkpatrick Posted January 3, 2018 Author Share #3  Posted January 3, 2018 (edited) Jaap, video stabilization is a software process commonly found in other cameras. The codec does it, and it works with any lens. But you may be right -- that Leica offers it only to support video with its OIS lenses -- and I have been expecting too much of the SL and CL. The manual says very little on this subject.  P.S. You're right. The "video stabilization" that is offered is only for use with OIS lenses. presumable from the SL family. When I attach my 90-280, both the OIS and video stabilization lines in the menu light up. When I use the 55-135 CL, both are greyed out, and when I test by shooting short video scans, each lens at 90 mm, the difference is apparent. Stabilized video on the 90-280 looks nice, BTW, while the 55-135 is a little jerkier. Both handheld.
