frame-it Posted March 24, 2023 Share #81 Posted March 24, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) bumped into a young chap this morning, possibly in his late teens, near one of the Leica stores. He Loves his M7 and M3. He had a super thick well worn leather case on the M7, and complained its too thick. He had a silver 50 summilux asph on the M7 and complained its too noticeable and way too heavy. and of course he complained about the red Logo on the camera. hmmm he never complained about the price of film and later on saw 2 Girls with SL2's and monster SL lenses, probably tourists. stuny Posted October 19, 2023 Share #84 Posted October 19, 2023 Late last month in a Shinto shrine near Shima, I came out of the men's room and saw a man sitting with an M on his lap. I walked up to him, showed him my Q, and we both laughed.
liggy Posted October 21, 2023 Share #85 Posted October 21, 2023 All the time. One of my best shooting buddies is a big M fan. I usually have my Sony as we tend to shoot moving things. He brings the M for the non-moving shots.

bcorton Posted November 21, 2023 Share #87 Posted November 21, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I seem to run into other photographers with Leicas occasionally. About two weeks ago I was at Mesa Arch in Canyonlands National Park in Utah, photographing with my X2, and met a British fellow with an M of some sort (didn't get to really see--M10, I think). I saluted him as someone with a proper camera, but he seemed uninterested in talking either photography or Leicas. Other than that, he was friendly enough. By way of contrast, once I was photographing in Glacier NP with my R9/dmr outfit and met some Germans who immediately recognized the camera. However they said that they had never seen anyone with a Leica before. They were from Wetzlar. Life is really strange sometimes. Oh, here's Mesa Arch (or part of it). X2. Welcome, dear visitor! theseahawk Posted November 30, 2023 Share #94 Posted November 30, 2023 Last month in Paris I came across two photographers at work with Leicas. One walked past me on one of the bridges with a digital M but I didn’t get a chance to engage him. On another night in the Marais I encountered an older man with a Q2. It was raining and we were both out shooting which we agreed was a good thing. On a slightly related tangent I did have several people comment on my Leica/s while I was out and about this trip (which included Chartres, London, Richmond, and Oxford) and had nice chats with them. I made up a new rule that if I chatted with someone and they commented on the L I was obligated to ask them for a portrait. I forgot to a couple times but with others it made for a nice encounter and photo (see portrait thread for one example).

If they have a D-Lux, X1 or R, I smile and offer them some patronizing advice, as I am obviously a pro. If they have a better camera than mine - especially if we are talking about -D or monochrome versions - I ignore them and hide mine. Brilliant. Marc B-C Posted November 15, 2024 Share #100 Posted November 15, 2024 Other than a trip earlier this year, where I met both @andybarton and @Gibbo I do not recall seeing / noticing another Leica user since Nov 22. That was outside the Soho NY Leica store so odds were favourable. Whilst I am out and travel frequently, perhaps I do not go to photographic places.
