Thanks for the feedback, Ian. Working with texture and tone, Thambar certainly has a dialect all its own. I really appreciate the way you are rendering the palette in your landscapes, by the way. Very nuanced.

After going through this thread so many times, I finally decided to follow my heart.

I have a few days to check the condition and decide whether to keep it.

Quick question for anyone with the ltm version:

Is your hood very tight and fairly hard to put in?

Anything specific to the Thambar that should be checked out? (the glass is pretty clean on this one)

Looking forwards to start my learning journey!

No. On mine it’s actually not as tight as I’d like. I has fallen off a couple of times so I have to be careful not to loose it. I should get the felt replaced.

The hood on mine is very tight.

Edit. I just realised you asked about the ltm version. Mine is the new M version.

Thanks to both, looks like it is supposed to be tight then. Maybe it will loosen a bit with usage.

I had an original Hektor 7.3cm from the same period which had a similar hood. It was looseish, but had a long overlap on the barrel which stopped it falling off. The cap had a very short overlap and fell off all the time.

Ouch! I’ll put a chain on mine :)

I happened to see the cost of the lens has risen quite significantly recently. There’s one in Vienna at €6600 iirc.

But I’ve also noticed that people are becoming more accepting of the lens too. Recently a set of my photos was runner-up (by just one vote!!) for the Summilux.net 2021 photo prize. A lot of the comments were along the lens of “I’ve never understood the point of this lens but now I want one” 😂😂

I really love your work! Hope you are preparing for the 2022 photo prize. I am going through the dossiers, some really nice and interesting work.  French is my mother tongue but I never thought about checking the French forums before 🙈

Thank you! I'm not sure about next year, we'll see if I have anything new to offer. Yes there are some amazing photos there. A bientôt sur summilux.net peut être!

From the same first test roll (hp5+ at 800).  Not the best composition but I love how  the dog’s expression and eyes were rendered.

Does anyone know if standard 48mm filters would fit the LTM version?

I decided to send mine for a CLA, so it is not with me at the moment...

Thanks a lot and happy new year!

My Thambar dates from 1935, and takes a 48mm filter.
