Hello.

I own a T and am thinking of the CL only if :

- Exposure preview can be turned off from menu (meaning the screen or EVF doesnt simulate the preview I will get with my settings)

- images are not overexposed by one stop like on the T or TL

Can someones confirm this to me please ?

I find it a bit hard to claim that exposure is consistently over on a camera, as exposure conditions are not consistent. I was shooting outside in foggy conditions last week and had to dial in +2 stops on my M240 to get the histogram somewhere in the middle. I find that exposure cannot work without considering the subject.

What we meant is that the Leica T/TL and CL (it seems) have a problem with liveview. The exposure you see in your liveview/efv often result in an image overexposed by one stop. This doesn't mean the camera is not correct at exposive but that there is something weird going between the liveview image and the resulting exposure. Leica never adressed this issue yet and many people tend to put their camera at -1 or -2/3 of a stop as their default setting. Best

Liveview is not an exposure meter and should not be regarded as such. The only way to judge exposure on the camera is the histogram.

I am sure the brightness of the LCD can be adjusted in the menu.

IMO, judging exposure by the rendering on the display is inaccurate on any camera. There are too many variables involved between the LCD display configuration, it's perceptual brightness and dynamic range, and the recording of an image to see consistent exposure evaluation this way. The fast, on the fly, representation is really just the lo-Rez output of the JPEG settings, which may or not be corr3ct for the specific scene.

The displayed image is only a fast approximation at best: you have to learn how to interpret it when using it as a basis of exposure evaluation.

According to the manual, the CL's exposure preview mode is enabled in all shooting modes but can be defeated for Manual exposure mode. This is identical to its operation in the SL.

Using centre weighted metering today produced perfectly exposed shots in a variety of conditions.

I've seen none of the variability and mismatch between EVF view and the final image that was present in the TL and TL2.

It is really very much like using the SL in terms of consistency and accuracy.

I have a SL and there is not problem as witht the T. SL, T, TL and now CL are designed from their roots to use liveview and EVF in a what you see is what you get manner. I understand your point about the problem of accuracy in may occure and the fact histogram is more accuratw but it not really my point. My point is that there is a big gap (one stop) between the liveview/efv exposure and the real exposure you get. That gap is not seen on the SL where the exposure is fairly accurate with what you see in the liveview and the evf. Ao there is definitely an issue here. There are threads about this on this forum.  as I said ...... the T/TL/TL2 EVF problem seems absent on the CL.
