In autumn 2016 I finally bought the M I had dreamed of getting for so long.

By last month I had built my M lens collection up to three  28mm Elmarit, 35mm Summicron and 75mm Summarit.

This basically covers the popular focal lengths I tended to use my X-Vario (bought 2014) for.

Consequently the X-Vario has seen virtually no use for for 12 months

I also have an original X bought shortly after release, this still sees some use when I need a small camera and I enjoy using this.

When the CL was mooted I thought the CL might, like the previous film CL, have an M mount and make a useful second slightly more compact and less valuable camera to take out and a bout where and when I might not want to take the M.

I am now wondering if I should consider replacing my X1 and X-Vario with with a CL with M adaptor as to all intents and purposes the CL is the successor to the original X / X-Vario but with the all important viewfinder?

At present I have too many Leicas as I also have a V-Lux 3 which I use for jobs which require an extreme zoom.

Replacing the X and X-Vario with a CL with M adaptor is starting to make sense.

I presume using an M adaptor on a CL would be fairly straightforward?

An M adapter on the CL is great (it recognises the 6 bit code on your lenses) -

If you get the 23 and the 18-56 you have completely replaced your Xs (with much faster AF and better image quality)

Thanks

I think I would just go for the 23 plus body and M adaptor.
