The bird feeders' red millet encourages scarce Tree Sparrows. Opportunist Dunnocks frequent the ground beneath the feeders … in fact there are several Dunnocks which appear to be permanently in the bushes.The rock in the background is limestone from the reserve's former limestone quarry workings. Taken at a distance of approx 10 feet late afternoon on a very dull day in the shade of the bush; Leica SL 601 Leitz 280/2.8 APO R & Leitz 2x APO extender; ISO 3200; effective f5.6 1/160sec. I was sitting on my trolley seat at ground level photographing Bank Voles (also opportunist scavengers) but the Dunnocks are easier … they move relatively slower than the Bank Voles. dunk Welcome, dear visitor!
