Wild Turkeys in our yard using Swarovski ATS-80 Spotting Scope at 20X magnification on tripod. The M10M is handheld touching the rubber covered eyepiece.

It is more than a little challenging getting sharp focus. I'm still learning, but this is my best effort to date. M10M, 35 f/1.4 FLE, 1/250, f/11-16, ISO 640.

I like trying different things with cameras that no one else does.

Great Horned Owl and two chicks in Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs. Leica Q2, 1/250, f/2.8, ISO 100, on tripod, with Swarovski ATS-80 Spotting Scope and Leica Q Digiscoping adapter, at around 4oX magnification on the spotting scope. This its a first attempt, but I plan to return in the evening when the light is better and the wind is not blowing like it was today.

Not a 'birder', but this little fellow, a baby Cardinal, found himself 'out on a limb' just above my head having probably left the nest prematurely, his sibling resting in the nest 5 feet further up. Hope you enjoy him. Seemed pretty composed considering his circumstances. Checked on him later and he had advanced upward a foot, resting on a more substantial branch with eyes closed. Clearly a big day. Cheers.

Tom Turkey Portrait, Leica Q2, 1/1250, f/1.8, ISO 100. I placed my camera on a tripod in the yard near where I expected the turkey to move to. I used the FOTOS App with some difficulty to get a closer shot than I can ever get using normal technique. FOTOS is still a bit of a pain, but it does work when one is persistent and patient.

Yesterday I returned to the Great Horned Owl and two chicks. I used my Canon 5D Mk III, 600 f/4, 1.4X Teleconverter, on tripod with a remote release to avoid jostling the camera. The results are much better than previously with the Spotting Scope.

Last chance for photographing the owls before they fledge. I captured this last evening. 1/400, f/5.6, Canon 5D3, Canon 600mm f/4 with 1.4X teleconverter. On tripod. I should have raised the shutter speed a little. The mother owl was never still.

I enjoy pushing the limits of camera gear. I took this Male Broad-Tailed Hummingbird photo this morning before the sun came around my shady spot and ruined my setup. Leica M10M with three Canon 600 EX-RT flashes set to 1/64 power and optical triggering so they would flash simultaneously. The camera was set at 1/125, ISO 160, f/16. The idea is that the flashes provide all the light and thus will stop the movement of the wings. The power of the flash sets the pulse width which in effect is the shutter speed. In this case it's around 1/4000 of a second,. By the way, the FOTOS app is terrible for this. There's a 7 second delay after taking a photo until it's ready to take another. In that time the bird has gulped the sugar water and left. Anyway, this is a fun challenge and definitely not what the M10M was intended for.

Little Pygmy Nuthatch near our feeder this morning in the cold rain. Leica Q2, Swarovski ATS-80 Spotting Scope. 1/60, f/1.7, ISO 320. On tripod. Taken through a double pane window. Dirty I might add too.
