That's the only "grip" I know of available at present. Seems to me that if you want a portrait orientation grip and you want the shutter release in the correct place, it's the only grip that will do the number without a kludgey cable connection to the camera.

You're not telling us what difficulties you're encountering shooting with the SL in the vertical position, therefore it'll be tough to provide intelligent & useful suggestions.

 

Not knowing any more than what you have chosen to share in your above post, have you considered a hand strap to offer a more secure grip.

 

Personally, I find the SL equally easy & natural to shoot in landscape or portrait orientation.

I have two issues. The strap gets in the way- it’s mainly the right side of the strap that falls such that the strap ends up right in front of the eyepiece. I also have a lot of trouble holding the camera steady in the vertical position, and this is compounded by my frequent use of long M lenses.
