Csacwp Posted October 27, 2017 Share #1 Posted October 27, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anybody know of a handgrip that makes it easier to hold the SL when shooting in portrait orientation? I know about the $800 Leica grip but don’t want to spend that much and don’t need the extra features.
Advertisement Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 Hi Csacwp, Take a look here Handgrips. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ramarren Posted October 27, 2017 Share #2 Posted October 27, 2017 That's the only "grip" I know of available at present. Seems to me that if you want a portrait orientation grip and you want the shutter release in the correct place, it's the only grip that will do the number without a kludgey cable connection to the camera. John Z. Goriup Posted October 27, 2017 Share #3 Posted October 27, 2017 You're not telling us what difficulties you're encountering shooting with the SL in the vertical position, therefore it'll be tough to provide intelligent & useful suggestions. Not knowing any more than what you have chosen to share in your above post, have you considered a hand strap to offer a more secure grip. Personally, I find the SL equally easy & natural to shoot in landscape or portrait orientation. JZG
Csacwp Posted October 27, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted October 27, 2017 I have two issues. The strap gets in the way- it’s mainly the right side of the strap that falls such that the strap ends up right in front of the eyepiece. I also have a lot of trouble holding the camera steady in the vertical position, and this is compounded by my frequent use of long M lenses.
FlashGordonPhotography Posted October 27, 2017 Share #5 Posted October 27, 2017 I have the SL grip but much prefer using an RRS grip and QD mounts. I find the RRS grip gives my pinky some where to rest and I have modified all my straps to use the QD mount built into the RRS grip. There are long M lenses ? LocalHero1953 Posted October 27, 2017 Share #6 Posted October 27, 2017 I don't like a full strap either, but that's because I don't want the weight round my neck. A hand strap makes everything easy, and it doesn't fall in front of the lens.
ramarren Posted October 27, 2017 Share #7 Posted October 27, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm a little confused. A strap, hand or otherwise, is a very different thing from a grip... ?
