Finally an M lens that I do not feel the slightest temptation to even try it out.

The Summaron 28 being the first!

Yes, wise not to try it out. When I tried out the Summaron (mostly out of curiosity) I was struck by how good it was and sold my 28 Summicron.

I am surprised they have revived this lens. Agree with above statements. I don't like the look of the photos or the physical look of the lens. Ouch.

I think this lens will appeal to some people; I like several of the images in the gallery - the ones with the woman next to the lake in particular.  The shot of the trees with the doughnut bokeh background looks awful.  I like what the Noctiluxes do so perhaps that's why I like some of the Thambar images.

At $6500 USD, I will pass.  I will keep using my f/1.0 Noctilux and when I have a spare $6.5K, I'll use that cash toward the purchase of a Monochrom 246.

let's wait... is one of my hipotesis for "the next nostalgy item"... ;)

(P.S. ... you mean "more attractive" also in the sense that it could have been priced MORE than the Thambar ? :p )

Yes those huge lumps of glass in the Summarex would not come cheap. It must be about a day's output for Schott  :)

I always wondered if the grooves on the edge of the third element from the back are a screw thread to adjust that lens backwards and forwards or just alignment/fixing grooves.
