scott kirkpatrick Posted September 24, 2017 Share #1 Posted September 24, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I flipped through four pages without finding an image thread, and I just got my "new" 2009 M9 back with its new sensor and took it out to see if the colors were special, as used to be claimed... Yup, nice colors. Viewfinder takes a little getting used to -- framing and parallax correction is not quite the same as my M10 (which is currently in Wetzlar). Highlights need extra careful handling. I'm glad to have this one back. mp58 Posted September 24, 2017 Share #2 Posted September 24, 2017 Scott, I just got my 2012 M9P back from Leica NJ this week, too. Would you mind telling me what kind of paperwork/documentation Leica sent back with your camera? IOW, did they give written indication of having replaced the sensor and board, etc? thanks for your time. -Kim
scott kirkpatrick Posted September 25, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted September 25, 2017 (edited) No paperwork at all, an inspection certificate signed by the final inspector. That may be the result of using a very sketchy Leica "representative " here in Israel to handle the transaction. They charged me more than 2X the cost of shipping, even though Leica ships things back at no cost. And on its return, the camera sat at the rep's lab for two weeks before I located it with Leica's help. This outfit is no longer Leica's representative, and I will handle things myself for service needs in the future. I have CCD-ID = 15 on the returned unit. It came back with my profile and file numbering unchanged, so I probably sent it in with up to date firmware. mp58 Posted September 25, 2017 Share #4 Posted September 25, 2017 (edited) I just called Leica NJ and gave them the service number that was on the customer care certificate. I was told that my M9p's sensor and circuit board were replaced, as well as the covering. Leica also did a rangefinder adjustment and full CLA. The very nice lady apologized that this was not listed on the packing slip because the work done on both bodies will be listed when they send back my MM9. I sent both bodies to Leica in May, but Leica still has the MM9. Glad to have this information, and so grateful to have my M9p home again. sacramento Posted November 29, 2017 Share #5 Posted November 29, 2017 I had the same notification from NJ: new sensor, new circuit board, and new cover. Why a new cover? Puzzled.
jdlaing Posted November 29, 2017 Share #6 Posted November 29, 2017 I had the same notification from NJ: new sensor, new circuit board, and new cover. Why a new cover? Puzzled. The old cover must be peeled off and therefore is trashed.
