May have stretched out my hotshoe :/

So I'm an idiot and tried to use a profoto wireless Canon TTL trigger that goes into the hotshoe. It was a tight fit and now my little plastic shoe cover that came with the camera and was really hard to take out now nearly falls out :/

I can't tell if it ground out or smashed some plastic, or bent some metal. Any ideas what the ways these shoes get messed up are? I hope I didn't damage my camera. The SF-20 flash still goes in and works fine.

Bending the metal is not easy to do and there is no plastic involved in the grip of the hot shoe. It is more likely that the cause is in the plastic cover, which looks like a 10 cent Chinese product.  Ask Leica for a new one, if you are in NY you could drive there. IMO it should be sent out free of charge -depending on Leica's largesse, of course- ;) .

I cannot say that messing up a hot shoe is a common problem, in fact, nearly unheard of. I once managed to break the four little screws that hold it to the body, by sitting on an M240 + SF24. :(

A well-trimmed piece of black tape on the back of the cover will more than make up for any damage your Canon kit did. It's not ideal, but only you will know that you're all stretched out.

I thought similarly and used the tiniest piece of gaff tape to secure it, but I did it on the top plate. I kinda like the cruddy/scrappy look of it.

Haha, yeah I'm having such a hard time over here with my fancy toy...
