Front Viewfinder Window Glass Protection

I've always used screen protectors for the back LCD, except for my M-P 240 which has sapphire glass (apparently hard to scratch). I just received the M10 today and thought about how big the viewfinder is, and also wondered if they are prone to scratches. I'm curious if anyone knows what Leica has done to protect the front viewfinder glass from scratches? is it coated? Is it made of a scratch resistant glass? I've never had to think about this with my other camera bodies because all I protected was the back LCD! Thanks for you time.

Hello Maxx,

Welcome to the Forum.

M3 from the last Century. From before people ever walked on the Moon.

3 windows, not 2.

Still there.

Still OK.

A Leica M of any type is a relentlessly right handed camera.

Altho it is reasonably usable with your left eye also. Sort of.

If you put your left hand under the lens & use your right hand to hold the camera & the shutter release:

You might find that your fingers (The most common window smudger.) are less likely to come in contact with the windows.

Best Regards

Michael
