Record shot of this year's hired 4/4 for the big annual Morgan Gathering in the U.K... Ron will have the definitive "photograph" when he returns from Cornwall, as he took a great many. This color, (same as my Plus 8) is very difficult to capture as it's very rich and creamy but not too dark, also richer than MB 623 Hellelfenbein. Never seen a digital shot come close...

Lovely car. But overexposed. Highlight details are lost in the light color of the car. Better to underexpose a bit and let the background go darker as a result. Don't know if you can do anything in Photoshop with it, but maybe.

Print looks fine. So did my monitor. Guess I have to get used to this site. Here's one more try with a slight levels adjustment rather than "auto levels" which usually works with these scans just fine. You know me and PS! :)

The second one shows some tuskiness colour in the car, whereas the first was verging on "Arctic Snow with a hint of Birds' Custard" on my two Mac monitors.

The white, a little like another colour called 'Old English White' is hard to reproduce exactly as there is a depth as well as a hint of brown in the cream - the second comes about as near as I've seen it - maybe the red in the seats was better in the first though - shows you can't please everybody all of the time !! :)

The shiny side of the bonnet (hood) is about the nearest rendition of the true colour.

These ride a LOT better.:) My Plus 8 is Royal Ivory, but my trim is a deeper red Connolly Autolux, piped black, and my weather equipment is black Rivenhood rather than Everflex.

These puppies aren't that dear. The car is listed on Wykehams site for 19,500 GBP or about $37,000, but the last 4/4's imported here were in 1995 before OBD II became mandatory, so you'd have to figure out a way to get it in the country, and of course, the steering wheel's on the wrong side. You need a car like mine, only I think I have the only Royal Ivory Plus 8 with a 4.0 in the U.S....

Had an OBW 4/4 in 2002 with a Focus 1.8. It's a lot lighter than this standard Morgan (one of 5) color. Your shot makes Leyland OBW look much darker than I remember it. That IS, of course, the only other Moggie. :)

The adjusted photo looks spot on to me. That IS the definitive 4/4 shot and it makes me drool for one of those things. Now if I could just come up with a spare $100,000 (for the down payment).

 

The 4/4 is a four seater, the plus 4 is a 2 seater.

A 4/4 is a 4-cylinder, 4-wheel (rather than three-wheeler) Morgan. A Plus 4 is a Morgan with a bit more...:) At various times, four-seaters have been built as both 4/4's and Plus 4's. Peter Morgan would never permit a Plus 8 four-seater after a lawsuit he settled here in the late 60's. Only this year can you obtain a four-seater 225 BHP 6-cylinder "Roadster". Some Plus 8 four-seaters were built in the past by specialist Morgan agents including some DHC's, but never by the Morgan Motor Co.

I stand corrected. The 4 seater that I recall was the plus 4 +. The 4/4 was a stripped down version, different engine then the triumph.

I forgot about that homely beast. Know one has come up with a pic of a 4 seater roadster, which i am calling the +4+ from the 60's.

Yep, pretty cute. Same color scheme as my Plus 8, more or less. Even Ron liked it. Before he saw this color in the flesh, he thought all Morgans had to be BRG!:) In case you missed it, he was with me for the week but is recovering in Cornwall with his girlfriend. Thought I'd better post a few snaps before he posts his REAL photographs and blows me out of the water!:)

This scene does look familiar...do I recall the blue Morgan from a year or two ago in the same location???

 

Your "Levels" adjustment works very well. A favorite tool of my own is the "Shadows/Highlights", but it can put a crazy over-saturated buzz on the image.
