Advertisement Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Hi pgk, Take a look here Worried about using your Leica near the sea? Don't be!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Beresford Posted July 24, 2017 Share #2 Posted July 24, 2017 Great pic, Paul; but have you ever had the experience of a single grain of sand finding its way into your camera? I have and I have been I was traumatised! It would be really good to know why we should not be "worried about using [a] Leica near the sea. Seriously, have you any tips? It is something I would like to do more. I have really enjoyed the thread "Life is a Beach" and have been amazed by Adam's pictures of languid lotus eaters. pgk Posted July 24, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted July 24, 2017 I often shot by the sea live half a mile away from a very large sand area). I'm always careful with cameras near sand and haven't had a sand ingress problem in 40 years of photography. Salt and salt spray are another problem so I always use a protective filter and dry my hands before handling the camera. Its all about being careful. Michael Hiles Posted July 24, 2017 Share #4 Posted July 24, 2017 I have never had a problem with my (film) cameras. I stay away from spray (keeping the camera in a plastic bag is useful), and I will only change a lens in a completely windless environment to avoid sand etc.
