graeme_clarke Posted June 13, 2017 Share #66  Posted June 13, 2017 ...and just to say I'm delighted with the timely way Leica have dealt with the repair. It really has been a quick response with emails to keep me informed. All appears to be well, with the sensor aligned properly and focusing mechanisms working as they should. I just hope it continues to be so...  Graeme
RoySmith Posted June 13, 2017 Share #67 Â Posted June 13, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) That's awesome service Graeme. Those of us across the pond are envious of Wetzlar service. I wonder if any of the employees there are interested in moving to New Jersey ?
Edgy01 Posted June 26, 2017 Share #68 Â Posted June 26, 2017 After a repair, whose to say it won't have an issue again on the trip back? Â I find it hard to believe that Leica could make a camera that can't handle a little bit of use. Â It's a bit disconcerting. Â Many manufacturers use shock indicators to cover their posteriors when such issues arise. Â I have no idea if Leica has even employed them. wlaidlaw Posted June 28, 2017 Share #69  Posted June 28, 2017 They may fit G indicators in the camera, which change colour, like Apple fit in their devices. If this is the case and a G indicator has been tripped, by far the mostly likely cause is UPS (U'r Package Smashed) et al's handling.  I bought a pair of reasonably expensive speakers a few years ago, delivered by UPS. The packages were considerably damaged when they arrived, so I refused to sign for them. After unpacking it became readily evident that they had been dropped so hard, that all three of the heavy drive units in each speaker had sheared off the front panel and dropped in a heap at the bottom of the speakers' relevant compartments. UPS took them away for assessment and returned them to me three weeks later, saying they believed they were repairable. On the outside of the now very damaged packing crates were a number of dirty football marks. While they were supposed to be checking on the damage, it would seem they had been using them for goal posts.  Wilson
meerec Posted July 13, 2017 Share #70 Â Posted July 13, 2017 I'd like to report how delighted I am with Leica Australia. Â I bought a 22 year old summicron-M 90 in May this year. It's a fabulous lens, fantastic pre-ASPH design ... it was in a great condition but I asked Leica Australia to quote me on 6-bit coding the lens and cleaning and overall calibration. I also asked the lens to be serviced in Wetzlar, rather than by Camera Clinic service centre in Melbourne. All agreed, I was quoted up to 8 weeks turnaround time. Leica Store in Sydney accepted my lens, and posted it to Wetzlar via Melbourne. Â 8 weeks have passed now, I enquired the Leica Australia office in Melbourne about my lens. Was told that the job is not done yet as the part (the mount with 6-bit coding) isn't available yet, still in the queue to be manufactured. I suppose the M10's production is high priority, and so are the new SL-75 and SL-90 lenses. I was just about to say how disappointed I was going to be, when Jane offered to send me a loaner summicron 90 APO lens to keep for as long as it will take to have my lens serviced. Â I'm smitten. Thank you all Leica Australia team. Hope they read this forum every now and then.
