kinkindoll Posted May 23, 2017 Share #1 Posted May 23, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) HI, I've just received my M10 today, I took a photo and look at the image number it started from L1009001, it is a bit strange to me. I expected it should be started from L1000001 but no idea why it is 9001 ? all the packing are unopened. I hope it is not used by anyone before. May I know what is the image number you guys start from ? Thanks in advance.

samuelkwong Posted May 23, 2017 Share #2 Posted May 23, 2017 Mine is also L1009XXX but reset it after taking some testing pictures. My M10 is delivered to me direct from Leica shop, anyone knows how to check the shutter count of M10?

jdlaing Posted May 23, 2017 Share #4 Posted May 23, 2017 No reason to panic. It's not strange. It's a common thing. Do a search on the forum you'll see other posts on the subject.

adli Posted May 24, 2017 Share #6 Posted May 24, 2017 It's just a number, it will not affect your pictures
Eric1 Posted May 24, 2017 Share #7 Posted May 24, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) It was probably used before or a demo version that was cleaned up on the outside but at least it works.
jdlaing Posted May 24, 2017 Share #8 Posted May 24, 2017 Hogwash. Leica doesn't sell demo cameras as new. They go thru a lot of shutter releases before they ever leave the factory is all. They are never reset to zero.
adan Posted May 24, 2017 Share #9 Posted May 24, 2017 Additionally - if you pop in an SD card previously used with a Leica camera (i.e. it already has a DCIM > LEICA image folder with a Leica-numbered image in it, like L1009234.DNG) - the camera will automatically reset to start from that number + 1, so as to prevent you from ever in the future having two files with the exact same number, that might overwrite one another at some time and destroy a picture. My M10, which has taken 900 or so "real" exposures so far, just reset itself to L1007864 because I accidentally put in one of my SD cards from my M9. It "saw" there was already an image numbered L1007863.DNG, and reset to that number + 1.

TheGodParticle/Hari Posted May 26, 2017 Share #11 Posted May 26, 2017 I had the same issue with my M10 and a friend with his. I was at Wetzlar today and they said the possible reason is because the technician uses his SD card to test the cameras and as a consequence, some start with higher file numbers. Mine started with 74XX. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
