Usual interesting articles in the new LFI, 5/2007...

- Filters: they say that the reason for the delay in shipping the 55, 60 and 67mm filters is that Leica revised the formulation of them even after the earliest ones had shipped for use on wide angle lenses. How that affects the smaller ones (for example, 46mm on a 38/2, 39mm on a 35/2 or CV 15mm) is not clear. They also say that the original supplier could not supply the quantity required and a new one had to be found.

- Monitor calibration: review of a range of of monitor calibrators (interestingly, the eye-one I use is apparently out of production). Conclusion is calibration is worth doing but you cannot beat a monitor like the top of the range Eizos, a "cooking" monitor can come close but that the 15" display from an Apple Macbook Pro doesn't come close.

- Review of the Giga Vu Pro Evolution

- Lenses and Visoflex

- Interesting IR portfolio from Analucia

As usual, lots to read, worthwhile adjunct to owning an M8.

On the plus side, it reads DNGs, on the minus side, it requires an adapter to read SD cards and is very slow - 1 minute to display an M8 file.

Tim Ashley already pointed this out and returned his. How anyone at the manufacturer thinks this is acceptable performance is beyond me.
