Gordy's Camera strap & M10

Hi,

I was a happy Gordy's Camera strap (http://www.gordyscamerastraps.com/neck-horiz/index.htm) user with the M 240. When I switched to the M10 I noticed the M10 doesn't have the protective strap pads on the side. Since the strap's leather is pretty thick, I'm concerned it might damage the M10 (silver) paint: the strap leather (not the rings) rub against the body when the strap is around my neck/body.

I've inspected the standard strap that ships with the M10, it has protective pads on the strap. But they are also leather so maybe it's not that big of a difference ...

Any thoughts or Gordy's straps users?

Thanks!

J

Just use a couple of small o rings before you attach the split rings, exactly as the ones on the strap itself. Keeps the strap from touching the camera.

I love Gordy's strap (had to say that first), however I would like to point out one flaw. In my case the tight threading around the leather end became loose and slid up revealing the metal clip that is used to lock the leather loop end. This metal rubbed against the camera and now I have nice shining golden brass visible. I don't mind it but if you care about strap scratching the paint then be aware. They do have leather protectors too but I don't like the looks.

I like the older Leica straps as they are adjustable.  I also like the smaller light duty Upstraps ( http://www.upstrap-pro.com/category/camera-straps-full-list.htm ) as I think they are well made. You need to ask them for a O rings.  I am not worried about the wear. I use my cameras a lot and they look worn.
