ropo54 Posted March 31, 2017 Share #1  Posted March 31, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently purchased this neck pad overlay for the SL 601. I use it with the peak slide strap and it adds another layer of comfort to carrying the 24-90. A nice surprise.  It has a memory foam pad interior and straps over the neck section with velcro adhesive.  Rob     Welcome, dear visitor! rafikiphoto Posted March 31, 2017 Share #2  Posted March 31, 2017 How does that work with the PD Slide? The purpose of that strap is it freely slides around the shoulder. Doesn't a pad interfere with that?
ropo54 Posted March 31, 2017 Author Share #3  Posted March 31, 2017 I'm not completely sure that I understand your question, but, the memory foam pad that I recommended simply wraps over the Peak neck pad section and is easily removed or reattached; it is not permanently affixed.  The tabs which raise or lower the camera length should be unaffected.  I find that even the peak neck strap can 'bite' into one's shoulder with a heavier lens, so this effectively puts a cushioned pad for comfort on one's shoulder.  Hope I have explained it better.  Rob
rafikiphoto Posted March 31, 2017 Share #4 Â Posted March 31, 2017 I use the Slide diagonally across my neck/back with the camera hanging at my hip. When I grab and raise the camera the Slide slips around my chest/back with the camera free in the shooting position. See the PD Slide video. I am thinking a pad will interfere with the way the Slide was designed to work.
ropo54 Posted March 31, 2017 Author Share #5 Â Posted March 31, 2017 Brian, For the most part I think you will be okay. I usually carry the SL 24-90 cross body as well, and would say that the pad is of minimal hindrance. Â Â In any event, while trekking along, with the camera and lens at your side, the pad is a pleasure. And, from my perspective, the cost of the pad is minimal so I would say give it a go. FlashGordonPhotography Posted April 1, 2017 Share #6 Â Posted April 1, 2017 This is why I like the Black Rapid Straps over the Peak Design. There's a decent shoulder pad built in and the design mean the camera moves without moving the strap. As much as I like the size and weight of the Peak Strap the seat belt webbing isn't comfortable in the long haul and rubs and cuts around my neck area. Â The Peak Backpacks are stunning though.
