Where do you get black and white nail polish?

Just about any drugstore that carries a nice big shelf of nail polish will have a few whites (or silvery-white) and a black. Mine are Jade brand, and they were on sale. Acetone removes them (you can get it labelled as acetone, and I think that is what is in nail polish remover.)

I went to Tysons Corner and found a store selling O*P*I Nail Lacquer and I purchased Alpine Snow 24013 and Black Onyx 24070. As I joked on an earlier thread, I'm all set to look Goth.

Search for a recent thread that included this topic. Some of the comments suggested finding more of a matt finish on the nail polish so the shiny black doesn't look like white to the sensor; some also suggested that painting the white dots wasn't necessary. Matt paint for models from a hobby store was also suggested; I'm not sure if this can be removed if the plate is used for another lens.

CVS Pharmacy; I think they are a national chain. With the Milich adapter the nail polish works and I could not get the Sharpie ink to be recognized. Thanks to J Milich by the way; he delivers in a timely manner. DR

Is matt preferable to gloss? I don't want to use paint with hassle of removing it if things dont seem to work. Most nail varnish seems to be shiny so has any one purchased suitable paint or nail polish in the UK?

Nail varnish. I think the gloss/matt thing is a red herring.

Ebay from a UK supplier. Pound something a pot plus post. Turns up next day. And you get to go to next season's fancy dress parties.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I went to the local drug store and bought L'Oreal French Lip White 130 and something called Stroke of Midnight 580. As it turns out, "Stroke of Midnight" is a very dark red, not black. So I will have to try again.

BTW, I find the Milich filter is an extremely tight fit, so tight I became concerned for the camera housing, especially as compared to the Voightlander LTM adapter, which is smooth as butter.

I will try to find a real black and see what happens.

I did find it difficult to put such tiny amounts on the adapter flange. I do not want to damage that lense that reads the coding.

Again, thanks for all the help. Is there an on-line source for a black that someone knows actually works?

A pure black nail polish should be all you need. I use a toothpick to fill the wells.

Cheers,
