I have had no difficulty focusing the Noctilux wide open with the M240 using the optical finder.

You really just have to be careful. Perhaps a (very) small % of bodies should be calibrated; but I found mine to be perfectly fine without calibration.

Very reassuring to hear. After all you read in various forums, one can almost get the impression that calibration is necessary in most cases.

Hi All!

Please advise your experienc of the combo M10 and Nocti 50 0.95, shooting with and without Optional EVF Visoflex 020.

Have a nice weekend!

Thank, Phongph!

I find the combo to be way too heavy. Can only use it for a short period before getting uncomfortable.

Focusing is ok with the Rangefinder but a bit more accurate with the EVF. Using the OVF I find it difficult to get focus on faces but anything with vertical lines are easy.

Looking for a version 1 50mm F1.0 now, much lighter at 560 or 580g compared to 700g

Had the same problem, but then I got the Leica grip for my M10. That solved the issue for me.

I think the fatigue issue came from having to squeeze the camera body so hard to maintain grip. Now with the Leica grip it's much more relaxed.

I have the f/1 Noctilux and I have very little problem hitting focus wide open using the M10's rangefinder.  I find that I'm much faster with the rangefinder than the EVF because there's no need/temptation to magnify the image or use focus peaking to reassure myself that I've focussed on the pupil - this is important for the candid portraits that I enjoy taking.

I'm also planning on getting s F10 whenever I can get my hands on one.......... I hear you about the zooming and focus peaking, many times I've missed a shot with all the faffing around trying to get focus

Most cases that end up on forums, maybe. The vast majority that didn't need to calibrate will not report the non-issue on a forum.

Are you getting rid of something or adding yet another camera?

In one of our prior exchanges you wrote ..."Unless the new M has a 47 x 38 inch sensor I am not interested in the M." :)

You just wrote that you're going to pick up an "F10"... I assume that meant an M10. No?

Jeff

No desire to get a M10

So what did you mean about getting an F10, considering you and Pete were discussing the M10????

Jeff

That was a few months ago Jeff...........a lot has happened since then.
