Cliff S Posted February 26, 2017 Share #1 Posted February 26, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) So the only AF mode that lets me just point while shooting video and have it focus on whatever I point at is Auto(face detection) mode. Is this correct or is there a better option?
Advertisement Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 Hi Cliff S, Take a look here Video mode for continuous autofocus.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Cliff S Posted February 27, 2017 Author Share #2 Posted February 27, 2017 So nobody uses autofocus on the SL when shooting video? It seems only face detection will work if I don't want to half press the shutter button every time the subject moves
scott kirkpatrick Posted February 27, 2017 Share #3 Posted February 27, 2017 C-AF in still mode requires that you hold the shutter half-pressed, If you are on a tripod, you could try using touch-AF. This is an area where I would not trust the manual, but would experiment with any conceivable variation on things that work in still mode. Tell us what you find. scott
Joshua Lowe Posted February 27, 2017 Share #4 Posted February 27, 2017 I haven't used face detection but when using AFc you have to half-press the shutter. The SL's video output is pretty nice!
Cliff S Posted February 28, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted February 28, 2017 I know so the only way I get continuous auto focus without half pressing is auto(face detection) I'm wondering what would happen if there's a bunch of faces.
