biakalt Posted February 21, 2017 Share #1 Posted February 21, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, I've got a Summilux 35mm pre-asph (Canada) which is my day to day lens. I'm currently shooting an M6 and seriously considering an M10. Will this lens work with M10 as I heard there's a problem with this lens' shroud and the M9. Many thanks and I appreciate your input. Advertisement Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Hi biakalt, Take a look here Would Summilux 35mm pre-asph fit M10?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Herr Barnack Posted February 21, 2017 Share #2 Posted February 21, 2017 If your 35 Summilux mounts on your M6, it will also mount on the M10, unless there is some kind of damage or owner "modification" (AKA butchery) to the lens mount. When you talk about the lens "shroud," I am guessing that you are referring to the lens hood. If so, the lens hood on your 35 'lux may intrude on the lower right corner of your framelines when looking through the camera's viewfinder. This is something that doesn't bother many M camera users but causes others to want to pull their hair out. Viewfinder blockage by the lens hood will not affect the functioning of the lens in any way. Hope this helps...
jdlaing Posted February 22, 2017 Share #3 Posted February 22, 2017 On the M8 and M8.2 the "shroud" hit the throat. On M9 and later the throats is wider and no problem.
biakalt Posted February 22, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted February 22, 2017 Thank you both very much. I've seen this article a while ago and apparently there's problem between the lens and the M9 (some particular serial of course): http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/169218-35mm-summilux-pre-asph-with-m9/?p=1879900 I guess I'll have to go into the store and test it out myself. microview Posted February 22, 2017 Share #6 Posted February 22, 2017 M10 manual suggests that lens may need modification by Leica – certain Canadian made lenses or in a certain time frame. Richard Caplan (London) has a mint condition boxed sample, but without an M10 to take to the shop , too risky to think of purchase!
