david strachan Posted February 4, 2017 Share #21 Posted February 4, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Personally I leave "auto focus" aid Off. I prefer to touch the front button to pull up focus aid, and push again to disable. Otherwise the camera "zooms in" every time the lens is touched. Often I'm not quite sure where I want my focus, so might hunt around with the viewfinder, at the same time might change exposure compensation. I also like to check focus depth at the same time, perhaps changing aperture. Then with a button push, zoom into your focus area, focus. Touch exposure button to leave the focus screen, check composition and then finally, shutter release. Auto focus aid was always a jump ahead for me...but, as they say, YMMV. cheers.. Have you tried it on the M10 yet...seems to be improved. Its not engaged until the lens is actually turned and is very responsive. You can also select 1x now with only focus peaking enabled...this switches control to the rear thumb wheel temporarily which is far easier to control IMO over the front button. david strachan Posted February 5, 2017 Share #23 Posted February 5, 2017 Works the same way in the M10, as it does in the M240, I'm pretty sure. Point is I don't like the focus mode coming up as soon as I touch the lens focus. I'd rather bring it up when I'm ready, with a button press.. cheers
