olukin Posted January 31, 2017 Share #1 Posted January 31, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have an issue with Lightroom CC 2015.8 on iMac. It seems that LR doesnt show at which aperture the pictures where shot. By "F" below histogram there is just "-". I checked this phenomenon with different lenses. Does anyone else experience the same effect? Is there a setting in Leica to record Aperture in EXIF file? Thank you

pop Posted January 31, 2017 Share #2 Posted January 31, 2017 Question: Does EXIF file from the M9 include full exposure information (f-stop and shutter speed)? The answer applies to the M10 as well.
Stef63 Posted January 31, 2017 Share #3 Posted January 31, 2017 With M9 and M240 the camera did a wild but sometimes accurate guess of the F value since there is no physical connection between the aperture setting on the lens and the camera . Apparently Leica choose for the M10 to ommit the "guess" and put a null value in the F field of the exif.
scott kirkpatrick Posted January 31, 2017 Share #4 Posted January 31, 2017 @POP -- that answer needs to be updated. The M10 goes to the new level of not storing the estimated aperture anywhere that you can read it in the EXIF. There is a suspicion that it might be in the secret "Maker Notes" part of each file. But the SL still shows it. scott

Only the M (Typ 240) did store that value under the Exif tag for the aperture, rather than just as part of the proprietary MakerNotes. This was regarded as a bug by Leica and the M10 no longer has that bug.

Guest Posted February 1, 2017 Share #8 Posted February 1, 2017 Seems that way yes.
Ario Arioldi Posted February 1, 2017 Share #9 Posted February 1, 2017 Thank you for the replies. So does it mean that there is no way now to see F values in Lightroom? With the current FW's 1.0.1.0 and 1.0.2.0 there is no way.

Peter H Posted February 1, 2017 Share #11 Posted February 1, 2017 It will be a shame if my Summicrons can no longer shoot at f1.0.
scott kirkpatrick Posted February 1, 2017 Share #12 Posted February 1, 2017 Apparently Leica choose for the M10 to ommit the "guess" and put a null value in the F field of the exif. They did even less than that. The tag "F number = " is completely missing from the files that the M10 currently writes. scott
