Advertisement Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 Hi SilentShutter, Take a look here Leica R6.2 - the best SLR. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
dritz Posted February 2, 2017 Share #22  Posted February 2, 2017 Sebastiao Salgado certainly like his R series using the R6 and TRI-X to make some of the most memorable B&W ever.  The capping of the Iraqi oil well after the gulf war that he did on his R6 has to be one of the all time greats.  Those not familiar - try and have a look at "Workers" by Salgado and see some fantastic Leica photography.   This one?  I'm one of the authors on this book, and chose the photograph for the cover.  Great image.

Guest )-( Posted February 3, 2017 Share #24  Posted February 3, 2017 (edited) Nice! I picked that as a Sydney street scene before I'd seen who posted. In fact I think I recognise the street. Maybe :-)  Mark  Thanks Mark, there's a pot of gold at the end of the street in the background  Saying which reminds me of this particular R6.2 Edited February 3, 2017 by coogee
jip Posted February 4, 2017 Share #25  Posted February 4, 2017 I love the R8/R9 over any other R... but then again I'm used to all the tech the Leica S has to offer, and the R8/R9 come super close, apart from Auto Focus.
TomB_tx Posted February 4, 2017 Share #26 Â Posted February 4, 2017 Well, I have R8, R6, and R4, but the Leicaflex SL which I bought in 1969 is still my favorite to use. The R4 is convenient in auto mode (using spot, meter & hold), but in many lighting conditions manual mode metering is miserable. The R6 meter readout is very nice, as I'm used to the M6, but on mine the shutter release takes too deep a press. The R8 feels about right, if I've just been shooting a Pentax 6x7. Nick De Marco Posted February 5, 2017 Author Share #27 Â Posted February 5, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for the comments, feedback and different views. Even the first very silly one amused me, and the others opened my mind to some other Rs. Nick
SilentShutter Posted February 5, 2017 Share #28  Posted February 5, 2017 I love the R8/R9 over any other R... but then again I'm used to all the tech the Leica S has to offer, and the R8/R9 come super close, apart from Auto Focus.  Give me the SL technic in a R8/9 body and you can keep Autofocus ! Using all the amazing R lens without a fuzz would make me buy it......
Likaleica Posted February 16, 2017 Share #29  Posted February 16, 2017 The photos will look the same whichever R body you use.  My R of choice is the R3, I have had one for over 30 years (although my original one isn't working reliably now so I have another). I've had no reason to consider a later model.  The sad part is that any R model is now either unrepairable or uneconomical to repair for anything shutter or meter related.  Interesting.  The R3 essentially is a Minolta XE-7 with some Leica modifications.  When they were announced I wanted the R3 very badly, but being in college I went for the Minolta.
tomlianza Posted February 26, 2017 Share #30 Â Posted February 26, 2017 After reading this thread, I brought my old R6 with the 50mm Summilux out of the cabinet that I use to store a my older cameras. Â I was amazed that the battery still worked after years in storage. Â I had forgotten how heavy it is. Â The view finder is wonderful. Â So now, I am going to throw a roll of B&W into it and actually take some time to take pictures today. Â I will process the film with my son. Â He has been shooting C-41 B&W film, but I will introduce him to Fuji Acros and teach him to develop the film. Â I turned him on to photography with some of my digital Nikon equipment and now he has become a much better photographer than me. Â He got an analog camera off of Ebay that still had a roll of film in it. Â He finished the roll and sent it out to be developed and scanned.....it was love a first sight. Â He was shocked by the latitude of the negative films. Â Now he always carries my Nikon D100 with negative color film. Â I showed him some of my older work where I exclusively shot color negative and scanned it....Ektar and Portra were actually designed to be scanned and they worked very well.... I will give him the R6 when I am ready to move on....

sc_rufctr Posted April 10, 2017 Share #32 Â Posted April 10, 2017 Ergonomically the R6.2 is brilliant. Perfect size and proportions and it has a real quality feel to it. (A "Soft Release" transforms the shutter button) Â Think of it as an improved M6ttl. Â But then you have the R8/9 ... On another level again but they're bigger then the R6.2. I can see why Leica kept making them after the introduction of the R8. I'm lucky to have a selection of R bodies to choose from. They all get used regularly. Â That reminds me. I need to stock up on film. Â

spontane Posted April 20, 2017 Share #34  Posted April 20, 2017 Hi... I love leica R cameras and have R4s, R7, R6.2 too... but I have one issue with leica R6.2. When I'm cocking the shutter and camera is in normal position is everything as it should be.  Shutter is locked in position and after release button the shutter fire. But when cocking the shutter and camera is not in normal position - for example angled or rotated up side down the shutter is not locked and shutter fire when wind lever is going back. It is little bit weird. Maybe it needs remove bottom plate and lube mechanism ?... any advice please? :-)

spontane Posted April 22, 2017 Share #37 Â Posted April 22, 2017 Hi, just figure out issue and fixed it. One tiny spring as hair jumped out from its position so the shutter lever was moving...has no tension so from this reason camera works from one position and earth gravitation was suppling the spring. Thanks a lot anyway. Cheers. Spontane
pebbles Posted April 26, 2017 Share #38 Â Posted April 26, 2017 I have had several Rs and used my son's R8 but the best R for me is the R4S model 2. It's small and does everything correctly. A wonderful camera. I wish digital didn't exist as it was a delight to use.
SilentShutter Posted April 26, 2017 Share #39  Posted April 26, 2017 One of the most practical cameras I ever used was my grandfathers Contax 137 QD (dont tell anybody !). Small with included motorwinder and only timeautomatic you have to choose apperature. Genius switch for Off-On-Measure value memory (which gave you perfect results for slowspeed flash balanced pictures) and this amazing sharp Carl Zeiss Planar 1,4/50 (one of the sharpest prime I ever tested).  But of course the mechanical build did not even come close to Leica standarts.
