I wonder if Luigi is going to make one of his base plates for this new camera. I bought one for my M9 monochrom and it is fantastic having such easy access to the battery and the memory card.

Has anyone else ever bought one of these? Would you buy one if it was available for the M10?

For today's memory cards with its much larger capacity, Luigi's modified base plate is no longer necessary.
But for the reduced battery power of the M-10 a quick change without opening of the whole base plate could be helpful.
Even better for taking photos at very cold temperatures would be a battery dummy with spiral cable to an external battery pack that could be worn warm on the photographer's body.
Another important question might be the prevention of moisture from these further openings of the camera.

I suppose the baseplate of the M10 uses the same system as the M240, i.e. with the tripod socket in the body; the bottom plate will be blocked when mounted on a tripod or using an Arca-Swiss plate.

For that use a Leicatime plate is the best solution, as it is quite impractical to dismount the camera to change batteries, or, in the case of the A-S plate, having to use an Allen Key.

If you use half-cases, JnK has already developed one with the battery opening for the M10 it seems.

Yes but you have to take the whole baseplate off and that worries me. The camera itself becomes the base plate. Also, the flap/lid to the compartment forms part of the case base and that seems to me to be a possible point of ingress for moisture, dust et cetera.

The Luigi baseplate is a real baseplate and then you have to fit the camera into a real case. That's the way I've been using my M1 and there is far less risk of any ingress – and in fact there has never been a problem.

Too bad more tripod mount on the Luigi.  Art Di has a tripod mount but they are not responding to my emails.

Forget that they are Chinese – Arte di Mano – and it is Chinese New Year and nobody is answering anything properly for at least another week or more.

I bought a case from them for my Leica Q and I was extremely pleased. The quality and the fit is fantastic.

My only problem now is that I intend to buy a Luigi baseplate for an M10 and it is only Luigi who at the moment produce the case to fit because the bases a couple of millimetres deeper than the standard one. But I don't like the way that it is attached to the tripod mount – and also from what I have seen, I'm not too sure about the quality of the Luigi cases in terms of fit – and certainly not by comparison with the AdiM cases.

Thank you.

Please could you tell us if it is the same depth as the original or is it slightly deeper as your previous ones have been?

It would be very nice if it was the same depth because then those of us who have already bought cases in half cases for our cameras would need to have to consider that extra expense as well.
