Has anyone tried this lens on the M10 yet?

I'm curious about this too -- I'd love to be able to use mine. I haven't received my camera yet, but the M10's manual (which you can grab from Leica's site) lists it as "cannot be used" under Leica M Lenses on page 135.

As far as I know inner mount diameter of digital Ms is too small to accept the lens without glasses = infinite focus.

I know it won't work on the M8, M9, etc. I was just wondering if anything has changed in the M10.

Page 135 of the M10 manual seems to state that the 50mm Summicron DR should not be used. It actually states that the lens 'with close up attachment' should not be used. I take it that this applies to the lens itself and not just the attachment. The lens certainly does not work on the M240 or earlier digital Ms. You can mount the lens but it will not focus beyond a small distance. A Rigid 50mm Summicron should, however, work.

I had DAG mill down the near portion of the helicoid on my 5mm Summicron DR.  It now works(fits) on my digital M cameras.  

 

This way the RF works for distance and the LV works for the near range.  This is a wonderful lens.  Fun to shoot into the sun.

So you're saying it still works as a DR after the work? I had read that having a lens modified essentially turns it into a rigid.

An unmodified DR:  On an M digital the lens can be mounted on the camera if the lens is in the distance portion of the focus ring.  It works fine in the distance range.  But, the lens will bind inside the M digital in the near range because, as the near portion of the helicoid turns it jams agains the side of the mount.  

 

So, DAG mills off this portion of the helicoid.  Nothing changes except the lens doesn't bind in the near range.  Of course, the RF is disengaged for the near range and the user will have to use the EVF or LCD (LV).

 

This modification makes the lens worth much more to collectors.

With M10 some 50 DR may not fit well, but look at page 3, at the end to "shave" DIY a very small bit and still compatible as usual with film M "full range" .
