I'm building my courage to get close and hope to do more street in the future. Macro? Flowers? Animals? Moody? B&W? Safari? Home? Children? Mundane? Glamour? Other? And why do you like to do so?? (perhaps you'd like to note your camera and lens too... ) all best.. I'm tempted to say that my favourite genre is the one I'm getting paid for, whatever it is. A good part of that is true, but the icing on the cake is when you are working a genre that interests you AND you're being paid for it! Personal work is Yoga for the eye, keeping the molecules oiled. Camera and lenses? I've learned long ago to match the gear to the task in hand and I always try to heed that lesson, when I don't I generally regret it. Most of the time I do prefer Leica RF's although when I'm in a situation where another system would work better, that's what I'll take with me. With Leica M's I use nothing above 50mm, and even 50mm use is rare, 28mm is my "normal". For me the M is designed to get in close. DSLR's handle longer lenses much much better. I cannot abide EVF's, but that's just me…….Worked way too long with OVF's in stills and film and I've yet to find any EVF that comes close. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

jhs852 Posted February 4, 2017 Share #49 Posted February 4, 2017 I like all types of photography. Currently I have been shooting landscapes and flowers. I also do some product photography at work. I like street photography,but in this day and age, i am hesitant about doing it. In the 1960's when I was in the Army and stationed in the Philippines and Viet Nam (Saigon) you could do street photography without fear of being attacked. In fact, the local people liked to have their picture taken and would pose and smile. The little kids in Saigon would ask for 1 P (a coin) and I would generally give them one as they could use it to buy a treat at a sidewalk stand. I won a 1st place in an Army photo contest with a shot I took of a little girl playing on the sidewalk with flower petals in a puddle of water. I was using a Pentax H3v then, and later switched to Nikon. I worked in a camera store for 15 years, so I have had the use of many different cameras, but I just love Leica. I also do a bit of Maco work. I guess I am just happy when I have a camera in my hand. I have been shooting photos for 65+ years. I use a Leica 240 for digital, M6 TTL and Leicaflex SL2 for film. I ave the adapter to use the R lenses on the 240. The 240 is a great camera for macro. I use the 60mm Elmarit R macro lens with the M to R adapter and I also have the Novoflex M extension tubes.
