What were you taking a picture of there?, It kind of looks to me like the camera accidentally went off while hanging from your neck.

Yes I was attracted by that accidental look and the mixture of moving people and still ones.

I can't explain why I choose some shots.  But asking me what I was taking a picture of?  That's kind of rude.  You might want to dial down the arrogance a bit.  Another man's meat etc ...

I was thinking about grabbing some scenes of general activity in the concourse before the match on Saturday.  The replica shirt displayed at the top of the picture is that of the former player who that whole side of the stadium is about to be named after (it was leaked last week) - so his name is 'au courant' among West Ham fans.

As it turned out none of them worked particularly well as I didn't find an angle I liked that showed the geometry of the the stadium's  skeleton and the people going about their pre-match rituals.  I hadn't yet adjusted the ISO from when I was outside hence the movement.

This one distracted me for a few minutes when I reviewed the afternoon's shots in LR - that's all.

I think photos are a bit like comedy.  Once you start explaining them it's a sign that they aren't very good - either that or their appeal is very narrow.

Taken in Chiang Mai at the Rakuda Photo Artisans & Café, a “hand” photo lab that does a great job developing and printing film — and that has excellent coffee.

This young Korean woman is traveling alone, on vacation. As I don’t speak a word of Korean, it was difficult to communicate: her spoken English was not as good as her reading comprehension. I started talking about the excellent new film, “Burning”, by Lee Chang-dong; but couldn’t remember this director’s name: I knew that the title in Korean was the same as in English. When she finally understood, her Korean pronunciation of the English word “burning” was unrecognizable to me, but she immediately said “Lee Chang-dong,” so I knew we finally were communicating.

This film is based on a short story by Japanese novelist Murakami, which, in turn, is based on a famous Faulkner short story, “Barn Burning”. In the coffee shop that morning was another young Korean woman, also traveling alone. Over the last year I’ve met several solitary travelers at this coffee shop, from Korea, Japan and China. This café is probably in several guide books from these countries.

Creppy light in my lounge, it was originally left covered in real cobwebs, I fixed them in place using hair spray but sadly an over zealous carer cleaned the light fitting.

If you zoom in you can see little rays of light coming off the lamps like sunstars.
