I took a ride on the Miami Beach Trolley this morning, with my M10 and 28mm Voigtlander.  I had tried taking photos from inside the trolley a few weeks ago, using my M8.2 but I couldn't get the images to work.  The M8.2 struggled with the range of brightness, from very dark inside the trolley, to bright sunlight outside of it.  I. could almost get the images to work, but I wasn't satisfied.  This morning,  when a little more of the outside light shined into the trolley, I got what I was after.  The 28mm got everything I wanted inside the picture, and after a lot of work, I managed to get something that also showed the driver's face.

Last night, I had gone to bed when the fire alarm went off in my building.  I hastily got dressed, then grabbed my M10, then decided that the 50mm lens on it wouldn't be wide enough, so I grabbed what is getting to be one of my favorite lenses, the Voigtlander 28mm.  After walking down to the ground floor, I got outside just as the fire engine was arriving.  I spent half an hour or so learning what "worked" (most of the time learning what did NOT work).  As a "photojournalist", even a pretend photojournalist, I needed at least one fireman in the photo, which happened towards the end.  There was no fire - it was a false alarm - which is good for a LOT of reasons.  One small reason is I could learn from what I was doing, to capture an image I liked (as an image).

There are things that make it easier to use my M10, and things that make it more difficult.  I decided a while back that I was going to shoot with the rangefinder, and not with Live View.  Live View is much easier, as I see the full image.  Looking through the viewfinder, with my glasses, it's difficult to get a feel as to what the image looks like.  Focusing - in this bizarre light, it was difficult to focus, but the more I worked at it, the better I got.  I hate to say it, but to get as good as I can with my M10, I ought to put my D780 away for a while.  The Nikon makes everything so easy.

All that really counts though is the final image - not sure what people here will think about it, but is exactly the type of photo I wanted to capture.

Another photo from tonight.

One of my favourite stores, spared the massive redevelopment of Denmark St, London.

On a walkabout with my M10 and my 50mm Voigtlander APO-LANTHAR, found an interesting spot, waited for a boat to come by, and captured it just as the dog was going under the walk-bridge.

I love this lens - I used to dream of buying newer Leica lenses to replace my Vintage lenses, but the Voigtlander lenses I suspect are the sharpest lenses I now own.  In the USA often buy from Camera Quest, but KEH often has the same lens at a far lower cost.  I flat out love what the M10 does for me - I routinely use both it, and my Nikon D780, but I prefer the M10 for most things.

I recently re-set the jpg setting to B&W, so I could get an idea of what my images were without color.  My problem is I almost always go for the color version.
