Nice! Actually, with my 3D-printer it should be possible to print a set like that:). I think I have both mounts in 3D already.

mmx_2 Posted January 24, 2017 Share #22 Posted January 24, 2017 with a 3d printer, it should be possible to modify the design slightly to add a locking lug for the lens...... And here is the first draft : And a picture taken with the adaptor of the original OUFRO: Of course you should print it in black material (I use ABS) but I had grey loaded in the printer and didn't want to change for the first "prototype" . It should also get "Acetone Vapor treatment" to get a smooth surface, but the concept works.
ECohen Posted January 24, 2017 Share #23 Posted January 24, 2017 Very Nice! So including R&D ....What did that part cost you?
mmx_2 Posted January 24, 2017 Share #24 Posted January 24, 2017 Very Nice! So including R&D ....What did that part cost you? Well, hard to say, I already had both mounts drawn up since some earlier projects, but I spent maybe 3-4 hours in CAD, cost of printing is very low for me since I own my own printer. Material cost is about 2-3$ .
Echo63 Posted January 24, 2017 Share #25 Posted January 24, 2017 Now that is cool !I would leave the inside rough, as it will trap the light better (unless you can get a better matte finish with the acetone vapour)

I would leave the inside rough, as it will trap the light better (unless you can get a better matte finish with the acetone vapour) On a different printer you can modify the extruder temperature, if you lower it, it would typically produce a more matte finish. Otherwise just using some sand paper will give you a good matte finish . I have tweaked the design a little bit now so will try a new print.
mmx_2 Posted January 24, 2017 Share #27 Posted January 24, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I might make it public soon on Thingiverse, but PM me otherwise if you want a stl-file (Shapeways or some other service can print it for you). I've only printed one so far and although it works, it's of course not of "industrial quality" . I will print one more now and make some more tests . ECohen Posted January 24, 2017 Share #28 Posted January 24, 2017 To see technology come together like this......Amazing! I wonder if there are copyright laws with this stuff since you can reproduce almost anything? Not sure if copyright is the correct word? I saw an auto restoration company fabricating impossible to find parts Simply amazing !! Then again I think the digital camera is pretty amazing. Well, you are right, in terms of M-mount it's now so old that all patents have expired, but I'm not so sure Leica would like if I made an OUFRO for SL or S without asking . I would love to get the file, would be a useful project to try out the 3d printer we have at work.... PM on the way.
