Is this the original 50/1.2 Noctilux from 1966 with the hand-ground aspherical lens element?

Pete.

Hi Pete this is the remake 50mm f1.2. I forgot to add that but now that we’re talking I’d like to ask you as I actually wasn’t sure if this thread allows for remakes? The rendering is the same as the vintage lenses, so in that sense they are ‘old glass’, but they are also currently being produced, so just wanted to clarify.

In the meantime, 35mm Summicron V2 | MP | Tri-X 400

Hi Shirubadanieru, it's a fair question and I would respectfully direct you back to the opening post in this thread that says "There's no restriction on the type of lens except that it should not be the current model, ...".  Since the recent 50/1.2 Noctilux aspherical is/was a limited edition and is no longer listed for sale new on Leica's website it can't be called 'the current model' and therefore qualifies for this thread.

It's difficult for members to distinguish between pictures made with the original 50/1.2 Noctilux from 1966 and the recent remake so I would be grateful if you would very kindly call it the '50/1.2 Noctilux asph' or identify in another way so that members know which lens was used please?

Thank you,

Pete.

Thank you! I can’t edit it anymore, but will do so in the future. Glad to know they can be posted here, just recently purchased it and will share more in the future :)

To keep the pictures thread going, here are two more shot at f2.8 this time with the Noctilux f1.2 Remake and M11

Didn't know the 50/1.2 replica was already out of production (I'd have thought someone in Wetzlar would have decided to milk this cow a little bit longer, as they did with the 50/1.4 BC...)

Anyway, since it's now officially sanctioned as "old glass", here is one already posted somewhere else on the forum when it was still "current".

M10P ASC + 2021 Noctilux 50/1.2 ASPH, wide open I believe

It was a cursory search on the Leica site that found the 75/1.25 Noctilux and 90/1.5 Summilux but "page not found" for the 50/1.2 Noctilux asph so I drew the inference that it's not listed for sale.  However I wouldn't be surprised if Leica, like they did with the 50/1.4 'Retro' Summilux BC, did another run or two of the black 50/1.2 Noctilux asph later.
