My first shots with a 1970's Minolta Rokkor 85/2.8 Varisoft, which is the variable soft-focus lens, shot wide open on my M10.  The lens is a continuously-variable soft-focus lens with four click-stops: 0 (sharp as normal), and three softness clicks.  I've shown 0, 2, and 3 below to show the different effects.  I've just acquired this lens so I'm starting from scratch.

Soft focus is achieved by increasing Spherical Aberration but it looks as though the focal length and focus point alter also.

I'm hoping this will become a special portrait lens.

No soft focus, wide open

Mid soft focus, wide open

Full soft-focus, wide open.

Thanks for sharing Pete, is it a f2.8 or f2.0 lens?

Agh, yes it's the f2.8.  Well spotted, Jean-Marc. 😊

Pete.

Edit: for some reason this post didn't show up after I'd posted it.  I've altered my post above to show 85/2.8.

M10 + 1957 Nikkor 135/3.5 v3 (latest, black aluminium) in LTM

This lens can be significantly sharper, but this picture was taken wide open with the camera handheld in a busy street. A bit of a stretch for 135mm RF photography IMO.
