Great phot of Edinburgh. For some reason, unlike most photos of other cities, It seems I immediately recognize the city.....even before I read the location.

Thanks

Thank you, glad you like it.

I know what you mean. Edinburgh seems to always be immediately recognisable...

...and, judging by the grandstands up top-left, just getting ready for the Tattoo, it seems!

I never tire of seeing the Edinburgh skyline. Easily my favourite city on Earth.

Nice snap!

Incidentally 29 years ago this month I happened to be in the Gothic-style building immediately below the left-hand extent of the grandstand for my graduation ceremony. Where did all those intervening years go?...................eusa_think.gif.................

It was a Meetup group, Coogee.

Meetup.com was started in the aftermath of 9/11 to provide a means for people to regain communication with people they'd lost touch with and has blossomed globally and turned into a place where anyone with a particular interest can set up a group and define a time and place to meet so anybody can come along and share a common interest face to face.  This was one of the many London photography groups and a pair of dancers had been arranged for a trip to the seaside to use Brighton and Brighton foreshore as an interesting backdrop to photograph them against.

I only went to Brighton for the day so I regret that I can't comment on the West Pier.  There's not much I would trust people to look after these days and I shudder to think what my beloved Christchurch (NZ) looks like these days after 20+ years away. :(

Pete.

Thanks Pete, was vaguely aware of Meetup but had no idea it had those origins. Sounds perfect for a nice photography daytrip down to the seaside, with models to boot.

I'll try and look in on Christchurch for you next I'm over there!

I'm back in the UK for a couple of weeks in October but no time to make it down to Brighton sadly. It's just impossible to make time for my favourite spots on big trips with family commitments/pressures to go to certain places, so it does tend to be 'shock reveals' in photography forums when I discover - they knocked this down, they built a what, etc..! When I first emigrated it was all blissful pre-internet ignorance, those days did have some advantages!

I am not a big cat person, but there is something about a wandering Tom that commands a bit of admiration.

is it the Sonnar look or 69 years of accumulated haze ???

It's neither.  It's just magic. :D

The internal elements are uncoated and in bright light white objects take on an ethereal glow.
