I really like this lens but i am scared that the lens closes accidentally and the retracting rear hit the sensor what would be a expensive mishap.

Chris,

That shouldn't be problem because the SL2's Register (distance between the rear element and the sensor or film) is much greater than the M register of 27.8 mm so the rear of the lens won't reach your sensor.

If you're still worried, when the lens is extended you could put rubber bands or a scrunchy around the barrel to physically limit the lens from fully collapsing.

Pete.

Thanks Pete!
As soon weather get better here in Zurich or when i move back to Sardinia where weather is 360 days sunny i will use her more to know this lens better.

I will take my time to measure the distance or study the way to limit how deep the lens retracts, or limit that she retracts at all as i don't need a retractable lens. But i have to admit that it would make storage much smaller what would be a argument.

With M->L adapter, it should be the same.

Thanks 3D-Kraft
It's a LTM/m39 lens and the adapter i have is not very thick, the M to L adapter may be a tad thicker.

The other point to have the lens locked in extended position is that hypothetically no dirt from the continuously moving may end up inside the SL2.

Funnily enough, Pete, that very thought went through my head as I was waiting for the sun to peek out from behind a bank of clouds! The cover for Animals, as it happens, is one of my favourite record sleeves. The music isn't half-bad either!

Not to go too far off topic (as if I would!)...

When I arrived at the spot from where the snap was taken the sun blinked out for a second or two and the scene looked quite nice so, eschewing my 'Standard Practice' for once, I decided to wait for it to pop out once more. Having just checked the time-clocks from two frames taken I waited (an unprecedented!) six whole minutes for the sun to reappear with sufficient strength to highlight the Power Station. Such is the Depth of My Dedication to My Art!.....😸......

Philip.

From an unusual British military lens, with aperture markings pointing away from the camera. Said markings stop at f/8, but its 10-blade iris can be closed down further to what looks like at least f/16. Its compact size and relatively light aluminium barrel suggest that it was an enlarger lens. Post-conversion MFD is approx. 50cm.
Unlike nearly all Super-Six photographic or cine lenses, its maximum aperture is *only* f/2 instead of the typical f/1.9. It also covers full frame (albeit with obvious fall-off and a bit of edge smudging), which was rather unexpected from a 38mm SS.
