Yes, the combination of modern sensors and noise reduction algorithms can sometimes provide impressive results. The key is to use NR tools sparingly to try and minimise the 'plasticky' look - I'm still experimenting...

Edit: as a side note, the ability to obtain very usable high-ISO pictures effectively reduces the need for sensor stabilisation, except perhaps in the most extreme, pitch-black environments.

Two more high-ISO NR experiments with the converted 1954 Schneider-Kreuznach Xenon 75/2 on the M11. Both @ f/5.6 and ISO 12,500 pushed 1 stop in LR.
