shirubadanieru Posted October 27, 2021 Share #8086 Posted October 27, 2021 A lot of people have the perception that the Summar is a fairly soft lens, and while it is true that it is soft outside of the center I find it quite usable and sharp wide open. To showcase that here are to examples shot wide open at f2 and at f3.2. Camera used is the M9P. The main difference is the shape of th bokeh which between f2 and f2.8 is rounded and from f3.2 is not. You can see that difference in the door knob and again click on the images to see a sharper image example 1 Welcome, dear visitor! shirubadanieru Posted October 27, 2021 Share #8087 Posted October 27, 2021 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Summar example 2 F2 on top, f3.2 on bottom…to be honest it’s arms to tell them apart when you can’t see the shape of the bokeh, but f2 is slightly softer and the center area of sharpness is more reduced than at f32 as one would expect. Hope you found these useful! Forgot to mention that this Summar is from 1934, Nickel, Uncoated, recently CLA'ed with very clean glass. Welcome, dear visitor! I read on another forum that there is a 9 blades version. Welcome, dear visitor!
