Yes, on these early uncoated Leitz lenses just a small hint of haze or - beware - a few cleaning marks in the "soft as young Gouda cheese" will lead to the famous "Leica glow" when light hits the front element. Only remedy for the latter is a good lens hood (the original slip on hood for the Hektor works fantastic) or a trip to Focalpoint for a re-polish and maybe a coating or two.

You're right Dirk. I don't have my Hektor birth certificate nor history and will inquire. Yet I did not have it serviced by Focal Point, it's been CLA'd locally in France.

I had a 35 Summilux v1 Steel rim serviced by Focal Point recently  :-)

Now that is just teasing JM ;-)

As I know how you like those pre ASPH 35 Summilux lenses, I am looking forward for more from this steely!

Sure is :-)

Traded my 35 FLE away btw, for some vintage french glass !

One cannot go wrong that path ;-)

Here is a few from my recently resurrected 35/1.2 v1 Voigtländer on it's first test shots in the wild (the focussing helicoid was way too tight since it left the factory, courtesy of too much of a very thick grease, which is now fixed beautifully):

The ghost (which I like here) is a product of the filter I had on that day - it is gone now and the lens will be surely used naked in the future - it doesn't quite like filters it seems and will immediately flare and show mirror images on a digital M.

Great pictures and wonderful (albeit hefty) lens. More interesting than the v2 IMHO. Must resurrect mine...
