tom0511 Posted January 25, 2017 Share #41 Posted January 25, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have used the S006 in real heavy rain and recently the SL in heavy snow and both survived. In your case I would also request Leica to repair free of charge.
Advertisement Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Hi tom0511, Take a look here How to weather seal a leica S007. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Agent M10 Posted January 25, 2017 Share #42 Posted January 25, 2017 I assume you've read this article by David Farkas? http://www.reddotforum.com/content/2015/09/leica-s-typ-007-review/ I'm quite sure you got some misinformation from Leica, it is weather sealed. Yes, David's article was a primary reason that I bought it. I thought, "Hey, if it can stand up to that stuff . . . ." Wife was none too pleased. This was a big trip for us. Hopefully, I'll hear from Leica soon and all will be well again.
dritz Posted January 26, 2017 Share #43 Posted January 26, 2017 Found this additional "propoganda" in the S specs: "Housing the imaging system is a robust, dust and weather-sealed magnesium alloy body featuring an anti-slip rubberized cover for both durability and refined handling." So, unless user error was a factor, it should be fixed free off charge. We call that a "warrant of merchantability" claim because the expectation is set by the specifications that says it is "weather-sealed" and you relied on that. I take mine out in the rain because I believe it was sold as a weather-sealed camera system. The S2 literature highlights all of the O-rings that seal out water. jip Posted February 4, 2017 Share #44 Posted February 4, 2017 I've stand in the ocean with salt water splashing over the camera and lens. Just rinse it afterwards with fresh bottled water and no problem what so ever.

As a practicing lawyer, I'm familiar with the warrant of merchantability, but thank you. I've heard back from Leica and I'm not a happy camper. I plan to do a write up later. As I wrote to Leica, after having bought the S2, 006, 007, and five lenses, this marks the end of my relationship with the S.
