Leica R Lens

Super.

I bought it specifically as a cheaper alternative to the 75/1.4 where used prices are frankly silly.

I have a mint 80/1.4 and the optical characteristics and quality is comparable ..... unsurprising as they were designed at the same time by Mandler

Much easier to focus on the SL.

I tried one recently (and The Classic Camera in London may still have that utterly mint copy) and was very taken by the results but as I tried it on the same day I bought my SL and 50 Summilux, I couldn't possibly have spent another £1800 on it.

It is lovely and produces etheral images with a warm classic 50s film like glow, a little like the Zeiss Sonnar f/1.5.

I use my R 80/1.4 a lot on the SL with the new adapter.  I posted one example shot at 0.5 m (closest focus on the R lens -- the M 75 variant only focuses to 0.7 m) in the SL images thread, I think, a few weeks back.

Here's another https://flic.kr/p/HkP1em example, shot of a stage production, saved at 1/4 size, wide open.
