rolf1h Posted December 31, 2016 Share #1 Â Posted December 31, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anyone having experience with the R-Summilux 1:1,4/80 mm with R-Adapter on the SL? How does it compare to M-Summilux 1:1,4/75 mm and/or to SL lenses in portraiture etc.?
Advertisement Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Hi rolf1h, Take a look here Leica R Lens. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
thighslapper Posted December 31, 2016 Share #2  Posted December 31, 2016 Super.  I bought it specifically as a cheaper alternative to the 75/1.4 where used prices are frankly silly.  I have a mint 80/1.4 and the optical characteristics and quality is comparable ..... unsurprising as they were designed at the same time by Mandler  Much easier to focus on the SL.
geetee1972 Posted December 31, 2016 Share #3  Posted December 31, 2016  I tried one recently (and The Classic Camera in London may still have that utterly mint copy) and was very taken by the results but as I tried it on the same day I bought my SL and 50 Summilux, I couldn't possibly have spent another £1800 on it.  It is lovely and produces etheral images with a warm classic 50s film like glow, a little like the Zeiss Sonnar f/1.5. scott kirkpatrick Posted December 31, 2016 Share #4  Posted December 31, 2016 I use my R 80/1.4 a lot on the SL with the new adapter.  I posted one example shot at 0.5 m (closest focus on the R lens -- the M 75 variant only focuses to 0.7 m) in the SL images thread, I think, a few weeks back.   Here's another https://flic.kr/p/HkP1em example, shot of a stage production, saved at 1/4 size, wide open.   scott
