Woww. Nice, your MP is like mine :)

I love my MP. There are things I might sell in the further... But not the MP.

The MP is far better than any other Leica M I have tried.

Beautiful. A camera for life.

What was your a la carte recipie? I can see the lumpy covering and the old school script on the top plate. Pretty much what I would order.

You're right on both counts :)

Now that I finally have an MP I understand what it's all about. Don't get me wrong; I still love my M7 but the MP is very special.

I was lucky with this one. The recipe is old style engraving, vulkanit covering and framelines for only 35/50/90. Pretty much what I'd order, too, if I could justify the cost of a new one. I priced up the options and realized (after buying) that I'd snagged this one for a little way over half that cost. Even better!

It's funny: I was really after a black one because I prefer the look of black over chrome with the standard script engraving. With the old style, though, I prefer chrome over black. For me this really was a lucky find and I had to get it before someone else did!

Just processed the test film and all looks good. I was concerned about a small mark on the shutter curtain which appears on both sides - hence possible perforation. It is fine, so I guess the mark is nothing to worry about.

Cheers

I loved my spare MP so much I...sold it to fund a SLR based on the Leicaflex SL for some nature trips. I'm having so much fun with those old cameras, I'm now wondering whether I should sell all my rangefinder stuff. The old SLRs fit my big hands better.

And then 8 months later I turned around and repurchased a used MP. Can't beat those M optics, instaneous shutter, and lack of mirror slap. Now back to two MPs, an SL and SL2. Never get rid of Leica.

Knew you would come back with your tail between your legs :p

Trying to sell your MP is like trying to leave the Hotel California.

In The Netherlands we are not so sure, MP or not. There is a show on national television which deals with this question. They think it's a song and dance. Here are some caps from tonight's show. :)

Andy, the strap, you use on your MP looks interesting. May I ask, if it uses the "keyring" attachment? Who makes these straps?

It's about as basic a strap as you can get, made of cotton, leather ends, and with standard key rings. LuxeCase makes them. If you do a search on RFF, you'll find other threads and people talking about them and pictures. In fact most of my camera pics show them.
