Hello there, I've really enjoyed browsing this epic thread for the last few months, so much so I've finally relented and will be picking up my .85 MP Silver tomorrow

It's been hard work justifying the expense to the wife but I've finally got there - I just reminded her that our baby daughter's name Alice is an anagram of Leica and our initials make up the model (Mary and Paul) - so it's inevitable ------- :D

Will post photos tomorrow on receipt

I think the black paint MP is the most beautiful rangefinder and/or SLR ever made.

The only camera that could possibly surpass the beauty of the black paint MP is a view camera like an Ebony or Deardorff.

Mahogany and ebony wood are tough acts to follow.

I find the Linhof MT very beautiful too :D

Here is my MP, back from Leica Service where it received a CLA, a nice new vulkanit skin and a viewfinder with only 28/35/50/90 framelines (i.e., removed 75/135). I really like the clean 50mm framelines

Anyway, 10 years/1000 rolls of film later, and it is now brand new again!

Beautiful! But do you have the 0.58 viewfinder? Because if you have the 0.72 finder, then I wasn't aware that you could decide to lose the 75 and 135 frame-lines, but keep the 28 in the process.

The viewfinder is 0.72, and I now have 28/90, 35 & 50 for the three settings, so it is possible.
