thrid Posted March 21, 2009 Share #1041 Posted March 21, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Robert I wouldn't worry about the looks too much. The Leicavit works well on both the MP and MP3 and I've never had a "grindier" experience like DriesI is having. These winders are particularly useful if you are shooting fast moving events like demonstrations, or if you are a left-eyed shooter. You should also check out the Rapidwinder product from Tom Abrahamsson. Both the Leicavit and Rapidwinder have their plusses and minuses, both are good at what they do. I love my Leicavit. It's permanently bolted to my M7 or M6ttl. It makes a huge difference when you are trying to follow fast moving action and firing off successive shots. Tom's Rapidwinder is even tougher, for serious heavy duty pro work, but it's a little taller (and cheaper).
Advertisement Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Hi thrid, Take a look here I love my MP. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Leitzmac Posted March 23, 2009 Share #1042 Posted March 23, 2009 Watch out for that hood on that lens. The hood locks in to place and can act as a wrench and start to unscrew the front element. I ended up going back to the round 12585 hood. Funny you should mention that, I had a problem with a previous version IV 'Cron 35, the front end moved around, but a specialist fixed it and it works fine now. andalus Posted March 24, 2009 Share #1043 Posted March 24, 2009 I bought my MP several years ago. I note that the ISO dial on the back is different from some other MP's. Mine has the markings for the various speeds on only half the dial, while other MP's I've seen on this thread seem to have the marking all the way around the dial. Is there an explanation for this? What does it mean?
antistatic Posted March 24, 2009 Share #1044 Posted March 24, 2009 The earlier MPs has the all around ISO dial and the later ones had the half way round version. I don't know why or exactly when they changed.
andalus Posted March 24, 2009 Share #1045 Posted March 24, 2009 That's interesting because I thought my MP was one of the early ones. Can't recall when I bought it exactly but I think it was 04 or 05 at the latest. Anyway, it's grand!
SteveYork Posted March 24, 2009 Share #1046 Posted March 24, 2009 The earlier MPs has the all around ISO dial and the later ones had the half way round version. I don't know why or exactly when they changed. The earlier iso dials were left overs from the production of the M6. It was the first batch of 1000 or 2000 in both black and silver. goldchen96 Posted March 24, 2009 Share #1048 Posted March 24, 2009 I have one M6, one MP and a couple of 35mm and 50mm lenses. They are such a joy to use (almost exclusively with APX100. Film really does it for me at the moment). Wonderful...

peter_n Posted March 25, 2009 Share #1051 Posted March 25, 2009 Indeed. That would be some doorstop, eh? With that lump of glass on the front it would probably half-bury itself in the floor...
RITskellar Posted March 25, 2009 Share #1052 Posted March 25, 2009 I had to sell the beautiful black paint Summilux 50 pre-asph that went with this MP. So, I've stuck this Summicron 35 (v1) on it instead. Though that is for sale now too! So I will probably end up using a Summaron 35/3.5 screw mount when it's all said and done. There's something kinda nice about a black paint body and chrome lens combination.

I just picked up that exact same lens for my MP today. They are getting acquainted with each other as we speak. How have you found the results so far ? regards Matt
